Speaking of which, I'm thinking of doing the fill coats on the Spring Run, and taking it to Port Townsend to sit in the sun a few days. I'm thinking the colors will tend to even out, and fade a little before I varnish. Id there any harm in that?

: Further to Tom's previous message. How much varnish provides safe protection
: from UV. I have learned a lesson the hard way. When I varnished I
: completed the boat and the hatches at different times, and thought that I
: applied the same ( 3 coats) on both Deck and hatches. My hatches have
: tanned to a darker color than the deck after a weeks holidays of sitting
: in the sun. I must have not put the same amount of varnish on the
: hatches.I used Sikkens varnish for my Kayak this spring.

: Now what do I do? Can I ever get them to match? It's really not that bad, but
: it's disheartening.

: Next time I will be more careful and will try not to rush to get it in the
: water, not mention applying more coats than just 3. I thought I would
: share with everyone so you don't make the same mistake.

: Can anyone offer some advice?

: Derek
