UV protection - and hard lesson learned !

Further to Tom's previous message. How much varnish provides safe protection from UV. I have learned a lesson the hard way. When I varnished I completed the boat and the hatches at different times, and thought that I applied the same ( 3 coats) on both Deck and hatches. My hatches have tanned to a darker color than the deck after a weeks holidays of sitting in the sun. I must have not put the same amount of varnish on the hatches.I used Sikkens varnish for my Kayak this spring.

Now what do I do? Can I ever get them to match? It's really not that bad, but it's disheartening.

Next time I will be more careful and will try not to rush to get it in the water, not mention applying more coats than just 3. I thought I would share with everyone so you don't make the same mistake.

Can anyone offer some advice?

Derek
