: was thinking of using contact cement where applicable to save time, any
: thoughts on this? maybe I'm crazy....

Contact cement is not water proof; it comes apart when soak. It grap too fast. If you don't position the parts just right, you are out of luck. That why counter top fomica is position directly on top of the counter with wood strips separate the two. When it is just right, you pull out the strip one at a time and press the formica down. It graps instantly. Even with all the care, Formica is still cut larger so it could be trimmed down later. Kayak has too many twist and curve to position exactly. I would not advise anyone to try contact cement.
