The main enemy of the synthetic portion of our boats is sunlight and the enemy of the natural portion is moisture induced rot. If your boat is stored out of the sun and rain (drying it first and storing it with the hatches open so air can circulate) AND you maintain the protective coating, you will become dissatisfied with some aspect of it and want to build another long before it ever shows any sign of deterioration.

If you turn out to be like most of us, you will want to start another before the varnish is dry.
