Rubber bushing thingamabob request

Kayaksports kayaks have a neat foot pedal that flexes or has the ability to rotate. They accomplish this by mounting the footpedal to the footpegs of a standard Keepers footbrace with 2 rubber bushings. The footpedals are made of plywood and have a rubber coating. They look similar to the outline of a small foot. The bushings are about 1/2" in diameter and I'd say about 1"+ long. At each end is a female threaded metal insert. A small screw is used to fasten the bushings to the footpeg and to the footpedals. The bushings flex in the middle. I think this would reduce fatigue in my legs.

I need help in finding the rubber bushing thingamabobs. I could purchase the 4 bushings and 2 footpedals from Kayaksport but the $49.95 price tag seems quite excessive. My '72 Mercedes 300 SEL uses similar bushings on the exhaust brackets but they have small studs at the ends instead of the female connections. I've searched the Internet without any luck so I'm submitting this question/request to the KBBB in the hope that someone can help me out in my search. Also any suggestions on a rubber coating would be appreciated.

By the way, you can't see the pedals here but their web site is at http://www.kajaksport.fi

Thanks,

Gary B.
