: Pete -- On my Merganser I used thickened epoxy (but thin enough to use with a
: brush), brushed it in to the joint, and then rolled out the tape (that had
: been soaking in epoxy), and smoothed it out with the brush. On 3 of the 4
: joints (2 in stern & 1 in bow), I had to pull the tape out and start
: over. It works best if the tape is just wet, but not dripping. Between the
: thickened epoxy and the fiberglass tape, everything went together fine.
: Good luck, Greg

: PS: How about some pictures??

greg:

thanks for the email and the call. I brushed thickened epoxxy into the joint and then rolled the tape out dry. I then brushed unthickened epoxy into the tape I could reach (the whole cockpit and everything but about 2 feet of tape in the far ends. Then used the brush on a stick method to get epoxy to the dry ends of the tape. Seemed to work okay and didn't take me too long. I never had to pull the tape back out either. Having a 16 foot yak and long arms was a blessing. Doing it on a 17-18 footer would be a bit tougher.

Thanks for encouragement. maybe I'll get some pictures one of these days.
