: Hi Rehd,

: I've decided to build two modified clc cape charles'. I think they are a
: little high in volume for me and the wife, I'm 5'10" and about 155#,
: she's way less than that. I'll shorten her's and make it narrower, and
: I'll give mine about a 22" beam but keep the length.

: I've got enough info from the plans in Chris' book, I've got the ply I
: salvaged all cut to size on the neighbor's table saw. I've even got enough
: free glass! When I bought the 6oz glass for my S&G G boat I asked for 10
: metres, but seeing as it was the end of the roll the guy gave me the extra
: free (this is one of the benifits of dealing with wholesalers who don't
: like to muck about with small orders). I've used over 10 meters and still
: have about 8 meters left and it's about 4' wide, it may be enough if I cut
: it up into tape and follow chris' building instructions. Though, I'm a bit
: hesitant about cutting up perfectly good glass.

: So all I really need is epoxy, and I've just found a local manufacturer who
: can sell me enough for the two boats for about $150 australian (about the
: same as canadian $$$). So it looks like I will get two boats for about
: $AUS100 each. But I might lash-out and buy some nice mahogany ply for the
: decks (they don't have to look cheap after all!). I'm moving house in a
: few weeks and I'll start building after that.

: Paddling this last summer was great even with all the crazy people in power
: boats, but it was way too hot to be out on the water in the middle of the
: day. We're coming into winter now but we won't get a lot of rain til about
: august. The water temp won't drop much below about 15°C, which makes
: paddling pretty safe year-round down here, even if I can't roll yet :-)

: I'll keep you posted on my progress.

: Paul.

Excellent! Glad to hear that those materials won't end up back out on another pile in the future. Will be lookin' forward to your progress reports. Love to see pics of your territory during your paddling. Would still like to make it over to that neck of the woods some day. Thanks :)
