In Response To: One millimeter? (Bruce)

For most of us mere mortals, DGPS is pretty much within a few meters depending on the "sky," the time at that one position, and the sophistication of the equipment being used. The Trimble upper end DGPS are very accurate yet are limited to a few meters, our handhelds are only good enough to get you within the general area only. (From lot's of experince I speak: The Anastazi GIS Project, the South Island-Maori Site Project, and my two cents worth on the tracking of migratory herds in Africa).

The Most Important Thing Here is this....don't ever believe anything you read in US newspapers! One millimeter?! Not even the military has that kind of accuracy in real-time!

: Dale, while I believe that the newspaper wrote this, its hard to believe its
: actually true.....my docomentation says that the DGPS is good to within 5
: meters.....which is 5 thousand mm. If I knew of some way to check this
: out, I'd do it..just curious as to how accurate it really is. Regards...
