: First, I just intalled knee braces in my Arctic Tern and used them today for
: the first time. What a big difference. I went last season without them --
: not realizing what a significant handling improvement they are. If you are
: new to the sport like me and don't have them in your boat -- add them,
: well worth it.

: Also, last year I noticed a slight "weather helm" or tendancy for
: the Arctic Tern to turn toward the wind. I always assumed it was just the
: design. Then I read Nicks post on how even slight movements in the seat
: can make a difference in the boats balance. My back rest is about 1"
: from the back of the cockpit rim and the seat is positioned accordingly.
: Should I be positioned forward another inch or two? Would that be enough
: to make the boat balance better?

: This seems to be a subject overlooked in most of the builing material I have
: read.

Hi

if you want the weather cocking to stopp and you say the boat turns into the wind... tht means that your stern is too high out of the water and is catching the wind. you might want to try moving the seat back the inch that you have left. it might improve. if not consider a skeg... wich is easy enough to make and instal in any boat. if you have any questions email me.
