Thanks for all the suggestions. I was able to find some black non-slip grit tape used on skateboard, pool sides, steps, etc. and added some strips to the floor as John B. suggested. That looks like it should work pretty well, but also have some of the other suggestions to follow if it doesn't. The problem isn't getting in, or the type of seat (I have a Creature Comfort installed) but getting OUT after paddling when the knees are stiffer and I need to get a bit of a grip on the floor to get out quickly. This should help a lot - thanks.
