Ed,

Be careful feathering the edges. I built a Tern 2 winters ago, and feathered the joints as you are proposing. In a few spots I ended up sanding thru the epoxy back down to the wood (in the 2" or so area where I epoxied beyond the tape.) When I did the full cloth/epoxy job later on, these spots appeared lighter than the rest of the area. Apparently where I sanded back down to wood, the wood was still a bit sealed from the tape job, so it didn't accept any more epoxy and looked lighter. Moral of the story: avoid sanding back down to wood.
