Hi John

The round bottom is usefull if you are doing a large amount of concave work , if most of the work you do is convex then the flat bottom model would be the one to have, All of the spokshaves avaliable to day are adjustable in that they have adjusters for the blade depth setting.

The only spokeshave that I know of with an adjustable throat is made by a german conpany named Kunz. Check with Woodcraft , or Highland Hardware in Atlanta Ga. This spokeshave is avaliable only in a flat bottom. It is my favorite.
