Dale - Easter Massacre - 3g or Building Board?

Hi Dale;

In an attempt to move the wannabee kayak designers from the building board to the the kayak design board, I have posted the following response to a flame post by Brian Nystrom.

It remains to be seen as to whether the "3 georges (3g)" or the Building Board will win. As for me, I would like to talk about building techniques, how to properly build our kayak projects, and have fun in the process. There is a lot of experience available from all the posters here, and we should be sharing it openly, as we have in the past. Kayak building is a very fun-filled woodworking project, and I REALLY dislike the subjective, unproven, unsubstantiated design debates presently forced on this forum by 3g. They are a distraction to the fundamental purpose of this board and would better be aired in the design forum - - I don't fricken care what any of the 3g has to say about designing with 2.6oz satin weave cloth and 1/8" strips, as it doesn't affect kayak building in the real world.

And as to your "Nibbling at the Crow" post, Forget It! Your Guillemot Triple, both design and construction, is so far above what the would-be detractors could produce, it is downright laughable. Most of us Newby's, including myself, DROOL over the fine floating furniture you are creating, especially considering your stapleless construction - - You are a true woodworker, a real "Norm" in my book - - And don't ever take a back seat to any of these 3g @ssholes again. If they could do what you are doing, they would be doing it, and not looking for quick claims to fame with 1/8" ply - Instead of working with 1/4" strips of cedar . . .

Best Regards, Spidey
