In Response To: wood species delaminating from apoxy, (Rick Clements)

Somewhere I once saw a very usefull list of woods and their properties as it relates to epoxy. Unfortunately, I have no idea where I saw it.

Remember, the bond between the epoxy and wood is mechanical in nature. So the better the epoxy can get into the pores of the wood, the stronger the bond. This means that woods which are hard and closed cell will not bond as well as more porous woods. How you do the wood finish will also affect this bonding. A boned surface, while looking beautiful, wouldn't bond as well as one that has been somewhat roughly sanded.
