Hi Ross, Check out the Kayak shop and go to the rudder or bowloop section. The drill is illustrated there. Normal drills cut unclean edges as you have found out. Brad point drills are used for making finished looking holes for dowels. I use stainless hardware so i drill minimum 16 x 3/16" holes in the deck. Vaclav
