I really like Yakima saddles but the Hully Roller is too pricey. I made my own system by making a V saddle from plywood and covering it with foam and carpet. It looks like kinda like a wing. The V is the same angle as the boat bottom and is about 12x20". I mounted the saddle on the rear bar with the Yakima saddle on the front bar. Lift bow onto the V saddle and lift rear of boat, slide it forword till it reaches the front saddle. The large surface area supports the hull and the carpet protects the finish. If you make 2 V saddles you only need one set of Yakima or Thule saddles to carry 2 boats.
