Not a dirge at all, my challenge has been how to have head protection that is versatile enough for in and out of water use. Even dry suits won't help you if your skull is being shocked with repeated immersions in 50 degree water. Back in SF I used to paddle alone out through a tidal estuary to the ocean to play then paddle back again. A friend was worried about my solitary trips and mentioned it a few times. A month later a gentleman my age with the standard farmer john/paddle jacket/poly pile outfit was found seperate from his kayak. Water temp. about 62 degrees.
