I have read an article by Dick Hazen in which he made the cockpit coaming by using a garden hose layed out around the cockpit opening and then using several layers of fiberglass. The glass is presaturated and layed about 4" under the cockpit and wrapped up and over the hose. The glass is allowed to set and then is trimmed along the top of the hose.
