Thanks to everyone for the tips. I went with just the wood flour. I like the contrasting colors. For applying it, I lucked out, my wife got very bored while I was doing some woodworking and when I headed for the basement I offered to let her help, and she jumped at the chance. She layed out the epoxy as I followed behind with tongue depressors and smoothed them out. Given her penchant to be frugal, and the fact I told her epoxy was expensive, my fillets are quite small (1 to 1 1/2 inches across). The tag team approach took less than an hour, to include mixing 3 batches of epoxy. I did find that I spent too much time making them pretty, just to plaster tape down over them.
