I've used both and just finished a kayak with a curved(bent) deck using the 6566. It worked well and the grain and appearance looks just as good as the BS1088. The only difference I noticed (besides price) was a little raised grain that I had to lightly sand. The only dif. between the two according to Noahs is that the 6566 has a 1mm face veneer and the 1088's is 1.5mm. Hope this helps. Tom
