Hi Jonathan,

A scraper can help you remove the epoxy drips. Get one with a carbide blade, the regular scrapers dull very quickly. I got mine - a Sandvik, from Home Depot.

The blade has a slight curve in it so use that to your advantage to remove the high spots. Scraping is more "focused" than sanding which will remove epoxy over a larger area. Takes a bit of practice, watch the edge of the blade does not dig in. Finish up with sandpaper.
