Urethanes will withstand any flex a kayak will go through. The rubber bumpers on cars are painted with the same paint as the body and they have no problems.

Yes you can add pearls to urethanes ( paint and clear) to get some neat effects.

Ford has a Mustang out that uses a really cool paint. It changes with the angle that it is viewed from. Goes from yellow-green-blue-purple. It is a special paint that you have to special order from BASF. (Expensive too!)
