I've also used these two part finishes, and fully agree with your assesment of them. My comment was to the single part finishes. Make sure you use the proper resperator with two part finishes, their fumes will make you sick as quickly, as flame cutting galvanized metal (another story). Hey, If you really want to get trick, try Imron paints. This stuff is nearly heat and acid proof, but then, if your kayak needs this kind of protection, you should be thinking twice about you choice of kayaking waters! :} Jerry
