Hi Mick;

Thanks for the nice response. I think I have a couple of *Wonder FIles* sold to Paul, so we should get our first commission checks soon . . . ;-)

What worries me about a double sided cut most of all is the fast (2x) material removal. Areas that need a fair amount of bevel seem hard to judge as to when you are shrinking that overall (i.e.) 3/4" strip width. I would expect that areas requiring a lot of bevel might cut into the 3/4" width due to sighting difficulties, and produce either an unfair strip line or gaps. Maybe I'm being overly cautious at the onset, but please bear in mind I never did it before. I'd like to find a means a bit more "automatic" that produced the bevel but did NOT touch the exposed surface, or at least allowed you to see exactly where you were during the operation.

A single sided cut (Wonder File!) is not much better, as it would seem to require extreme operator attention along an unsupported and unreferenced length of strip. Indexing along the in-place strip would be difficult as you point out, and, how easy is it to gauge when you've started to remove material from the width of the new strip actually narrowing it at points. The inherent potential for small (and large) mistakes seems high to me.

Tomorrow, Feb 10, will be the real start of my stripping. I will try your technique and with any luck, it may turn out that I was just showing "lay up them-there dang strips" jitters.

Best Regards, Spidey
