Thanks or the nice response and the picture of shellac in action! Your experiences inspire confidence, I'm really looking forward to the birth of my hull. I've spent 2-3 days just considering the consequences of actions taken now, at the all-important beginning phase. Now I'm ready to start stripping.

I have 2 *temporary* support strips stapled in place, and the stations seem rigid as can be. I did the keel and an out-of-position sheer strip opposite the side I will start with. I used these to set the plumb and make sure the stations are perpendicular to the centerline - - Tomorrow I am ready to start the REAL hot-glued sheer strip and its companions on the side opposite the temp support strips . . . and who knows how much more . . .

And for other amateurs (such as myself) who are reading this post, the two 90 degree twists in the keel strips looks daunting, but it is "cake" when you actually do it. Strip building is fun and actually seems pretty easy.
