Hi Spidey,

Interesting link. That is a trick that will come in useful;-)

I use a similar approach to remove a "propeller" twist out of the limb of a wooden bow...

Attach a bar-clamp to the limb, hang a weight on the bar-clamp, adjust the location of the weight to set the level of force required to control the twist and apply heat (from forced air a paint stripper gun) until the weight starts to lower (a couple of degrees rotation past where you want the twist to settle). Remove the heat and let cool to set.

The thin strips for kayaks should heat up quite fast and would be better that fighting with the strip. I an going to give that a try on a strip of spruce. Will post the results.

This works fine for hardwoods, it may be OK for the spruce I am going to be using. I don't know if cedar or red wood responds well to dry heat bending though.
