Hi Brian,

We used to use a kerosene heater at the cottage - I don't think that they burn very "clean".

For curing epoxy in cool temperatures I made a plastic tent just a bit bigger that the kayak that I would lower down over the hull and heat with an electric space heater. I also have put 100 watt incandescent lights inside the hull and they do a pretty good job of warming things up - just make sure that they don't touch anything.

I used the plastic tent for varnishing as well. Mounted a furnace air filter in a cardboard box for the air inlet and a small computer fan in an other cardboard box at the other end of the tent to create an air flow through the tent. Didn't eliminate all the dust but it did helped reduce it. I guess that the static attraction of the dust to the plastic helped as well - I had sprayed the plastic with "Endust".
