I made the carved foam seat from Laughing Loon plans for my Coho and it is very comfortable. The plans also include hip and thigh brace templates. I used bungees to hold down my hatches without the dowels. The bungees work great and DONT leak. If you use the same hole locations that the straps were to be and dont like the bungees, just install the straps later.
