Shawn's comment about the 33 cent mixing cup with free yogurt reminded me just how ridiculously high-priced epoxy supplies are. Things like mixing cups (especially the disposable cardboard ones), stirring sticks, latex gloves, etc. Stiring sticks - that's a fine example: Boater's World or West Marine, have packs of 10 or 15 sticks for something like $3.50 (if memory serves). Of course, I know to go to the craft store and buy a bag of a couple hundred for $2.50 So what's the deal? It's certainly not that the expensive tongue despressors are manufactured to higher tolerances. It's just robbery plain and simple. And who can get by with a shrimpy pack of sticks when you're buying gallons of epoxy? They expect you to buy multiple packs, and that compounds the insult. And latex gloves - I just bought 2 boxes from Harbor Freight at $3.50 for a box of 100 gloves each. You'd pay the same price for a couple pairs at the local boating supply store. I'm to the point where if I even find myself at one of these places I don't even go down that aisle because I know I'll just get worked up. Anyone else out there fed up with these pricing structures? Let's boycott 'em! We'll learn 'em not to mess with kayak builders! ;-)
