A bunk bed for my sons. I came across a bamboo supplier in my area when I was still in the material selection stage of my Guillemot Expediton Single. The raw poles and finished materials (like woven mats) they had filled me with ideas. I am still contemplating how to do up a stitch and glue using glass reinforced woven bamboo mats. I love the visual and tactile texture!

Anyway, the bed is really cool, 6" dia. posts with pairs of stretchers from post to post on each bed level. The platforms upon which the matresses will rest will be woven (maybe) from spilts from thin walled culms. One noticeable difference from your project, Jack, is that there isn't a square angle in sight. The guy I bought the culms (poles) from joked that "all materials are guaranteed not to be straight, to have cosmetic imperfections, and be of varying dimensions throughout". I have had no reason to question his "guarantee".

But it's really just a break from the next boat. One for my oldest son, I think.

ps. The bed's the methadone for the hands, but this board is still the real thing for my mind, all winter long I hope.
