Nick I find the British term comforting after all the misc. marketing terms that float to the surface: " general recreational kayak", or "expedition sea kayak", or whatever designation folks like to use. I like differentiating between short/fat, long/skinny, short/skinny, long/fat, lot simpler. Then whatever someone wants to do with the deck is up to them. "hey that's a cool looking boat,kinda skinny?" must be a kayak!
