But it's a real consideration - you're out there, thirsty and you want to get to the bar before it closes - and the wind's right there.

I don't think one could rapidly convert your seakayak into a real sailing craft when you are out, but the other kayak stuff out there looks so cumbersome and unsuited to an ordinary kayak that I wonder if even smaller and efficient is more easier handled and suited. Trouble is, you could really screw up bad with a half baked idea and I'm unsure of the result.

It might cause a revolution in seakayak design to flat bottomed yaks, just like the recent revolution in white water yaks and for slightly similar reasons.
