You may be right there Ed. As most of the antiques that are so beautiful, were only covered in one oil based finish or another. Many of them home made by the woodworker himself. With time, oxygen probably was allowed to filter through the finish and "work" on the surface of the wood. With fiberglass and resin, that may be a whole different ball of wax. But, It seems to me that those oil finishes were pretty thick, and in fact some looked like a layer of glass, and the wood still aged. ??Hmmmmmmmm?? Maybe the U.V.'s are up to no-good/good again. ??? Since I have no experience with resin and glass, I can't answer for sure on that one.
