I agree w/ Jay and Paul but if you have a problem:

I have a fairly tortured deck and after stripping I had to cut 2 ovals for future foot bumps. Crack! Split! Sob, sob.

So I clamped it all together again and put some tiny scraps across the strip joints at important places. Afterward (another story) no problem. I'll just scoop chisel them off when I do the inside.

Obviously I couldn't do this with the whole hull finished so I am testing it all the time and pulling many of the staples at logical times in the building process to test the approach.
