It seems I saw a note on this in the Newfound catalog I just got. "Strip-N-Stitch" they called it.

I have done this in small panels, a 4' x 16" plant tray, and a fishing platform for my Cape Charles. It is easy, strong, and works well. I think it would make a very pretty hull. With a bandsaw, you could use strips 1/4" x 4" or 6" wide. A small planer will bring them down to thickness nicely, with no need for sanding. Cold Molding is a similar process, done on a curved mold instead of a flat table. It would require a clamping jig for wide panels.
