I think it looks like a nice piece, but maybe not optimal for our application.

-I agree with the corrosion comment, these are Zinc. Too bad its not offered in a nice plastic also.

-it looks rather heavy

-it is not self centering, like a DZUS, which I also wish were offered in black plastic.

-There is no pre-engineered 'other half'. The DZUS gives you both the insert and the receptacle. On a kayak, one would have to install some sort of catching surface under the deck, for the arm to engage with. This would have to be durable, since any wear or compression in the catch surface would make the whole thing loose, and require periodic adjustment.

Having said all this I think they would work, they do look nice, and they won't corrode for a season or two in salt water, longer in fresh. Also easy to replace when they do go. Please let us know if you find them in lots of two or four, and how they turn out if you use them.

So far I like the under deck bungees the best, for these plywood boats.
