I used particle board for my forms. I don't know if plywood would hold better or not but do some comparisons before you try. I wasn't thrilled about the performance of the particle board.

I used Gorilla glue as well as pva glu on my Guillemot Coastal. I used the Gorilla glue where I had the greatest compound curves on the boat. I wanted to strip the boat without using cheater strips so I had some pretty good bends going. I was worried that the pva glue wouldn't hold if the strip creeped a little and I wanted a glue that would have some gap filling proerties without having to use epoxy. I liked the performance of the Gorilla glue but one thing to watch for is if you have some gaps it will have to be cleaned out before filling or it (the glue) will show through an off white color.
