hello, yes the resorcinol glue will end up giving you a stronger boat, not so much because of it being stronger than pva glue( Like the bottle say's "stronger than the wood") but because it has greater gap filling properties and has greater resistance to creep. Pva glue gets soft when you heat it so a dark boat on a sunny day could allow enough creep or wood movement to cause white spots in the fiberglass, the resorcinol glue is very temp. stable. Having said all that, I still feel that a quality pva glue is the way to go, it has much better initial tack and sets much faster allowing you to work at a faster pace, especially if you are using stapleless constuction. I run a small cabinet shop and the best pva glue that I have found is GarrettWade's 202GF, it has good gap filling propeties for a pva glue.As for the amount of time it takes that really depends on the degree of perfection that you are looking for, if all you want is a good usable boat you could finish in a month, if what you are looking for is a furniture like finish then you could spend half a year sweating the details, the more complicated your stripping design the more time and effort it takes. No matter what glue you use or level of finish you desire your boat will give you great satisfaction. Good luck. Kenny> I am planing on building a strip kayak. I have heard that carpenters glue
