hey erez, you picked a great boat to build and your experience shopping for a boat makes a lot of sense. Most folks seeking a "fast boat" are like folks seeking a "fast bicycle" either way the motor has to be comfortable confined in a comparatively unnatural position. Besides we're talking 31/2 to 41/2 mph for the most part, jogging is faster.

One of the things you might consider in seeking opinions is that what makes a boat wonderful is that "I made it". You figured that out. The other part is that you are talking to people that enjoy what they are doing. So negative opinions don't really fit into enjoying paddling, building, etc. They certainly don't reflect so-called objective criteria. It is one thing to say "It turns like ...." or "on two foot waves you really have to time your sweep strokes"

I traded boats with a friend for a few hours paddle, his plastic Kyook,my glass Mariner. I hadn't paddled one of those for a few years. Having developed more skills I found characteristics I didn't realize before. "Hey this is a good boat after all. So, now that you've built a boat, and are about to paddle it you might be in a better position to weigh the opinions you ask for as opposed to relying on them.
