Jack, my ex enjoyed using my being late to pick up my daughter because I was in the middle of fiberglassing as proof of parental negligence, sigh! I would guess the prevalance of male input on this board is that guys tend to make contact with other guys more easily through making stuff, who knows? If your isolating into boatbuilding that might complicate the domestic scene, but if you can make it possible to have help or company or an audience(oh boy) then that might make the difference. My daughter helped do the stitching on her boat so she doesn't mind it so much. The wee hours are a great time for spacing out to all the college radio stations while building but it's awfully embarassing to be still in the garage when the sun comes up and you try to explain that all the Pepsi bottles are there to help you wake up early.
