On this side of the pond they grow bigger staplers. 13/16" (20.6 mm) is used for fastening acoustic ceiling tiles, and this size works really well for strip-building. The tool is widely available in the US, and can be bought for $26. If you can't find this size at the local hardware store try an industrial tool store, either in person or on the net. I am told that Grizzly Tools and Harbor Freight are two good sources on the net. Good luck.
