Thanks, all. Based on all the responses, I think it would be prudent to add a fill coat. Of course, by now the initial coat is cured and I can't add the fill coat without some prep. I'll wash it all down and gently sand, but with the weave showing, it will be impossible to reach into all the nooks and crannies. Does anyone think this will present a problem in forming a mechanical bond?
