I talked to newfound boatbuilders in NH as they sell the cypress strips. I was told that the wood will work well, sand and epoxy well also, but is appreciably heavier than the cedars. Is used on larger boats where strength is a mjor issue without a concern for weight. Used mostly on the bottom of boats in which you stand. The wood is more dense and stronger but, for kayak construction, cedars are the way to go. Light and strong.
