There was a thread last year about the same topic. I'm unable to find the thread on an archive search, but the drawing i made from a similar description (from Jay Babina) is still out there ( http://home.sol.no/~thfu/hatch.htm ).

To release this hatch, unwind the threaded rod, slide the hatch forward or backwards, tilt the released end upwards and remove the entire assembly. Closing is the oposite order.
