With the forms for a G already on cadd, it was simple to call up Forms 6 and 11, add 3/8" (to allow for the thickness of strips and webbing), print them out, and make conforming cradles at those stations out of 3/4" CDX plywood. They hold the boat edgewise to allow 3-across spacing. Imagine a rectangle with a boat-shaped hole in the middle, minus the top and half of one side. Nylon webbing is hot-glued to the interface edge. Another webbing strap, complete with plastic quick clips is run around the circumference of cradle and boat. The cradles and strap are fastened to a Thule rack with stainless steel hose clamps, trapping the strap between the cradle and the rack. Strategically located plastic wire ties locate the strap along the circumference of the cradle. Works perfectly. Doesn't chafe the boat. Doesn't collect water even without a cockpit cover. Rides rock-steady at freeway speeds. Easy on, easy off. Costs less than $10. Builds in 2 hours. Does it get any better than this?

At this point, look at folding boats
