I am also on my second CLC boat. To do the sheers, I made a sanding block of the right radius out of 1-1/2" plywood, and attached 40-grit autobody paper to it. Very quick and easy to grind it down just right, and a nice rough surface for bonding. On this one (Tred Avon) I am planning on stapling the deck with 1/4" crown staples, and then pulling them out after it cures. I'll try to line the holes up to make it look natural...
