I mounted the same compass on my kayak. I had access to a wood lathe and turned a nice smooth "mound" about 6" dia. With a "bowl" cut in it to hold the lower half of the compass. Of course I had to cut and smooth the mounting bracket from the compass. With the lower half of the compass hidden in the wood it looks very nice. I used a silicone adhesive to permenantly mount the compass in the bowl. A small hole hidden inside the Bowl allowed me to run the lighting wires to a switch operated by my left foot. The bottom of the turned mount was cut, then sanded to the contour of the deck and epoxied on. Problems with this method are that you can't remove it easily (or anyone else) and that you can't correct for minor compass error after its installed. (is that deviance or varience?) Good luck on whatever you choose,

David
