The world has changed in the last 15 years or so. Art and craft stores now have all these silicone and rubber-like substances for craft and sculpture purposes. Even at children's classes they use it to make molds. My point s that you might not have to go to an industrial supply to find a rubber like casting substance. A local craft shop might have what you want. Sorry I don't have the specifics but it see this stuff in use at art classes for children.
