I remember reading a post some time ago where someone used textured contact paper on the bottom of a hatch, put silicone on the hatch lip, and smushed the two together. When cured, the hatch was removed, the contact paper came off from the silicone like peel ply, and everyone lived happily ever after. I wanted to try it at the time and did some test panels, but I got impatient, and when they reached the point where they wouldn't lift off I pried them, which pulled apart the uncured silicone. The test panel that worked the best was contact paper coated with a thin layer of petroleum jelly, but that didn't leave a nice texture. I have always thought that maybe if I had left them alone until it was fully cured I'd have been fine, but I set the idea aside and moved on. i'm thinking about it again, and I have been searching the archive and I'm not able to find anything on it. Does anyone remember who posted originally and how the process worked?
