Always thought it's a real interesting idea. Glad people are having success with it.

Just curious, is there a shelf life for magnets? Do they loose power from the atmosphere etc? What's the best magnet - ceramic?

The hatch design I show, while incorporating epoxy coated, rare earth, magnets, is comprised of many parts which function as a whole to ensure a waterproof closure. Every part has evolved over the sixteen years I've been building them.

Isolating one part is the same as isolating one part of a boat design. And we've had a few long discussions on that topic.
